A lot of Indonesian moslems were really happy and celebrated Sadiq Khan as the first-moslem major of London. They shared tons of news about it on social media. The same feeling, personally I am really glad that Ahok-a double minority (Chinese-Christian) currently appears as one of key public figures in Indonesian politics. For me, Ahok is a gift for Indonesia: he gives great lessons to all Indonesian moslems as the majority to rethink:
- how do we deal with democracy?
- how do we treat the minority?
- how do we put islam in our public space?
- how do we manifest Islamic doctrines to run a modern state? etc.
Those are key issues that in my view which are still huge challenges for us if we want to be a greater and stronger nation.
